Weekend Recap

It was a lovely weekend with a little sunshine included!

Friday night, we went to Mr. Lee's (a fine Chinese dining restaurant) with our friends Jon and Holly. I tried a soup called Seafood Velvet Soup and it was quite delicious and smooth. Not much meat to it so I left feeling satisfied but far from full. I usually have cashew chicken or crab rangun but opted for a healthier choice this time.

Saturday was a glorious day to sleep in! I got some laundry done and hit the elliptical. By 3:30, we were on the road to Columbus to see Winter Jam with Krista and Dan.

We figured that arriving an hour before the show would be plenty of time to find a good seat, but unfortunately the traffic was so slow filtering into the parking lots that we ended up missing half of Matt's favorite band, RED.

The rest of the show was great. It was a good mix of bands. We probably would have preferred harder rock bands, but we were pleasantly surprised by the addition of Michael Tate to the Newsboys. We slipped out of the arena a few minutes early to beat the 10,000 people who would be leaving at the same time.

And Sunday funday today has been relaxing. We went to church and then hit up Panera for a yummy lunch. Came home and took very long naps. With such a good weekend, I'm refreshed and ready to start a new work week.

Sweating it off

I forgot how invigorating the elliptical can be. Now that I'm participating in a small "Biggest Loser" competition, I have found myself burning tons of calories on that machine. It's kind of like a bike/treadmill/stair stepper. The first couple weeks I started using it again, I couldn't boost up the resistance to more than the lowest level. But now that I'm in a little bit better shape, I've been cranking up the resistance for a more heart-pounding workout. Still feeling pretty motivated as the first month comes to a close.

Besides the motivation of a cash prize, I really just need to look good in a bikini for our tropical vacation in July. Mom and Dad invited Matt and I to go on a cruise with them to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and Roatan on Norwegian Cruise Lines. Beaches galore! Check out this beauty.

Stayed tuned for further details on this fabulous vacation!!

My Favorite Things

Ahh...don't you just love the weekend? So thankful that the hubster and I don't have to work on weekends!! (Well....I hardly count one Saturday morning every other month as weekend work)
Today I just wanted to share some of my favorite things. Anybody watch Oprah's 25 Favorite Things?

I caught a few minutes of it...and I just have to say that was one lucky audience. They won tons of fabulous items (chocolates, special brownie pans, cashmere sweaters, blankets, and cruises. I guess when you're Oprah, you can certainly afford to give everyone all that...and more. Wish Oprah and I were better friends.

So here is a list of my FAVORITE THINGS.

1. Dunkin Doughnuts freshly brewed coffee
2. Bath and Body Works Candles
3. Cheese (all kinds)
4. Dogs
5. Boots
6. Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue perfume
7. iPod (and all of its contents)
8. Think Pink pants
9. LG Vortex smart phone
10. Swiffer Mopper

I can only come up with 10 things right now that I have at my house. In the future, I might just make a list of more abstract favorites (example: cruises!) But for today, its all about the little things in life. :-)

Christmas Recap

Hello Friends!

Hope you had a very merry Christmas. We took a trip to Elyria, OH to visit Matt's family this past weekend. It was a good, relaxing time spent eating...talking...eating and talking....and watching a few classic Christmas movies.

You know I turned 24 on Christmas? I know, I can't believe it either. How did my birthday happen to fall on Christmas day??? Just like every other year, I got "double" the presents and enjoyed birthday cupcakes in my honor.

I got a few candles, new pair of gloves, lots of chocolates, a decorative display shelf, hot cocoa, and a few gift cards to buy whatever I want! Did Santa bring you something nice or did you get a lump of coal? Excited to see my family for New Years!! I will try to upload a few pictures or our tree and lights on the house when I have a better internet connection.

Thanksgiving Recap

Back home from an extended Thanksgiving weekend with family. And it was so so good.

We had plenty of turkey, shopping, and card games. It was so nice to have a four day weekend and get to spend most of it with Mom and Dad. They are pretty special.

One key event that took place over the weekend was my cell phone update. I finally upgraded to an Android phone, the LG Vortex. I must say it is a bit more complicated than my Samsung Glyde, but I really love the screen and all the cool applications. I got the cheapest data plan available with Verizon, so I am hoping I do not go over my 150 MB I'm allotted per month. I have noticed that the battery has to be charged daily, which is a bummer. But you kinda have to expect that with a small computer. Day 2 of having the phone and I am still trying to figure everything out, but all in all, I am pleased with my upgrade.

Shutterfly Holiday Cards

In an effort to send out Christmas cards this year, I have discovered that Shutterfly is trying to make my dreams come true. They are giving away 50 free holiday cards to bloggers! So I thought I would share the wealth with you if you have not already heard about this amazing offer.

It is super easy to do, if you have a blog that is. Just write about the offer, as I am doing here, and they will send you a promo code for your free holiday cards. I'm getting pretty excited about this, can't ya tell?? I love Shutterfly. They have tons of options for about any type of photo project you're working on. I've been trying to get a wedding album put together for a while now but that's still a work in progress. Photo books are my favorite. I love looking at them over and over again.

Here is a link to their website where you can see all the cards they have out this year. Matt and I did not send out cards last year, but I know you would love to have a picture of us on your refrigerator wouldn't you?

Here is also a list of other links if you are interested in looking.
